Locals and residents of Dubai know that the camping season in Dubai starts from Late November until March. The weather during this time is the best for families, friends, or even solo trips to spend a night or two – even more at Dubai’s hottest camping sites! AL QUDRA LAKES
Al Qudra lakes is a man-made reserve that is home to more than 26 reptile species and 360 avian species. There are not many lake-side camping sites in Dubai but Al Qudra lets you camp right beside the lake with the best sunset and sunrise views. There are multiple lakes within the area that each has unique features to differentiate them.
Love Lake has plants and trees spelling the word “love” and a heart-shaped lake while Expo 2020 lake forms the word “Expo 2020” and has different water features. If you’re lucky, you can spot deer, gazelle, and onyxes in the vicinity along with the wild birds. You can also visit Flamingo Lake and take pictures of the Flamingos while they herd along the lake.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
- Lighting a bonfire and barbequing is not allowed directly on the sand. You need a barbeque box to perform these tasks.
- Camping is free and the site is open 24/7.
- There is a toilet available for Men and Women at Expo 2020 Lake and Love Lake however there are none at the other lakes.
- A 4×4 car is not required but encouraged although Sedan cars can still manage to get to the different lakes.
LOCATION:
ACACIA FOREST
Wake up nestled between the Musandam mountains. Acacia Forest is perfect for those looking to escape the beaches or dunes. This beautiful camping spot is perfect for night camping as you will be able to clearly see the stars and constellations. Don’t be surprised to wake up and find dozens of goats munching on branches. It is mostly peaceful aside from the military firing range in the area so be careful of the “no entry” signs.
Getting to the forest will require you to have good map reading skills so it’s best to go there in a convoy of atleast two cars.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
- Carry your own firewood as there is a scarce supply in the area.
- Be cautious of your belongings because the locals of Musaddan are infamous for stripping campers of their food, water, gas stoves, etc.
- Take your passport and car documents with you.
Location:
- Drive through Ras Al Khaimah to the Musandam border then continue along the coast for around 50km to Khasab. Drive through Khasab to Wadi Khasab then follow the signs to Dibba and Wadi Sal Al A’la. The forest is approximately 5km into the wadi. (Acacia Forest)
DIBBA BEACH
Fujairah is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the UAE. Among them is Dibba beach where camping and having a family picnic or BBQ is welcomed.
There is a dedicated camping area that is famous among locals and visitors which allows you to spend a memorable night under the twinkling stars right by the ocean. Bringing your own BBQ box or grill is also ideal so you can cook your freshly caught fish.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
- Obtaining a fishing license might be necessary for you to be able to fish.
- Bring mosquito repellants and your own tents.
- There is a nearby public washroom.
LOCATION:
SNOOPY ISLAND
Another beautiful attraction in Fujairah is Snoopy Island. It got its name from the interestingly shaped rock that looks like the cartoon snoopy lying on its back. This island is popular for various water activities like snorkeling and diving. You can also see that the island is surrounded by gorgeous coral reefs right from the shores of the island.
Snoopy Island allows locals and visitors to camp and set up a barbeque station and grill. The island also provides advanced classes on diving under its PADI-regulated four-day course.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
- Camping is free but you can rent tents, BBQ grills, firewood and even kayak at the nearby shops.
- There are toilets and bathroom facilities near the beach but none at the island itself.
- You have to pay a boater to take you to the island and schedule a time for pick up to go back to land.
LOCATION:
WHITE SAND BEACH
Located between the Fins and the Wadi Shab is “White Sand Beach”, one of the best camping spots in Dubai. It is a beautiful place to set up a tent on a cliff above the sandy beach and ideal for enjoying the serenity of nature while laying down by the shores.
You can enjoy water activities like paddleboarding, snorkeling, diving, and fishing as well – all for a relatively affordable price compared to other places.

- Be careful of the sea urchins that are often seen to frequent the waters.
